On May 16th Yakov Lieberman and more than 100 Holocaust survivors of Jerusalem were guests of honor at an exciting international event from the March for Life initiative and the Helping Hand organization. Hundreds of participants from around the world (among them the UK, Germany, El Salvador, China and more) came to Israel to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust, take Israel’s side and counter the growing anti-Semitism in the diaspora and around the world.
The events began in the Saqr park, from where the March of Life left to Safra Square, where a concert was held for the participants of the March and members of our organization. We were lucky to see a breathtaking performance by a Lithuanian opera singer who sang songs in Yiddish, as well as a performance by Jewish Agency Chairman Doron Almoga. A special part of the event was the participation of young people who took the stage to apologize, take responsibility and try to correct the atrocities committed by their relatives, who were part of the Nazi army and took part in the destruction of the Jewish people.
It was important to see how the younger generation chose a different path – to stand firm against anti-Semitism and fight for the perpetuation of the memory of the Holocaust together with the State of Israel and the Jewish people.
